ELECTING VICTOR MODI (EVM) FROM THE CAVE

PROBLEM BASICALLY WITH PARTIES, NOT MACHINE
Aditya Aamir - 2019-01-22 09:40
The way it is made, EVM is electing victors machine, not electronic voting machine: Sit in a cave and hack into the EVM and deliver votes to elect the government of the cave-hack’s choice. The guy obviously is hacking for a party, definitely the party ruling which is in danger of losing hold on power because of umpteen screw-ups.

C.J. Atkins - 2019-01-22 09:34
Bernie Sanders has a sexism problem. Bernie Sanders doesn’t get black voters. Bernie Sanders is becoming unlikable. Bernie Sanders is too old. Bernie Sanders is too white.

IMPEACHMENT CALLS FOR TRUMP ARE GETTING LOUDER

DEMOCRATS ARE STUNNED AT PRESIDENT’S TREATMENT OF SPEAKER
John Wojcik - 2019-01-21 10:29
Demands that President Donald Trump be impeached grew after revelations Thursday that he ordered his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress. The deceptions Trump allegedly ordered were designed to hide talks Trump and his family held with people in Moscow regarding the building of a Trump Tower in that city.

MAY’S INSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP FACING PERPETUAL CRISIS

FURTHER TURMOIL IN BRITISH POLITICS ON THE CARDS
Arun Srivastava - 2019-01-21 10:25
It is too premature to predict that Theresa May’s career is over. Nothing is impossible in the game of politics. The latest development has not come as surprise. Things followed the dotted line. May’s friends had warned of the disastrous effect on her moves, but she did not listen to their advice as she was firm that she would succeed in her mission.

OPPOSITION PARTIES HAVE TO FOCUS ON BIG PICTURE

MAMATA YET TO SHED HER PROVINCIAL IMAGE
Amulya Ganguli - 2019-01-21 10:19
Even if the rally of the national opposition leaders in Kolkata last Saturday was a fairly impressive affair, it was nowhere near what the people of the city had seen earlier, notably during the Left Front’s heyday.

SHRINKING JOBS ARE BAD NEWS FOR EDUCATION LOAN

BORROWERS AND BANKS ARE IN A TIGHT SOPT
Nantoo Banerjee - 2019-01-21 10:15
The shrinking job market is becoming an increasing concern for the country’s millions of students studying at home and abroad with education loans. Also concerned are those unemployed youth who had finished education with the support of bank loans that they are unable to return. The equally concerned are the guardians of the students, offering collateral for such loans. Banks are facing huge loan defaults. Interestingly, most of the education loans come from state-owned banks. The collateral is something pledged as security for repayment of loan, to be forfeited in the event of a default. Banks are increasingly finding it difficult to recover education loans from defaulters, genuine or wilful.

STATE LEVEL SEAT SHARING TALKS WITH PERSPECTIVE ARE MAIN TASKS NOW
Nitya Chakraborty - 2019-01-21 10:12
The massive rally organized in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday by the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee to demonstrate the unity of the opposition parties for unseating Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government in the coming Lok Sabha poll, has set the right tone to take forward the Mission 2019 of the opposition for making the centre BJP-mukta after the April/May elections.

WHO IS MGB'S PM FACE WILL DECIDE GE-2019

FIRST TASK IS TO REMOVE MODI FROM PEOPLE'S MIND
Sushil Kutty - 2019-01-21 09:58
The ‘mahagathbandhan’ is in place. There is also the ‘gathbandhan’. And don’t forget the ‘federal front’. The first and third overlap, they say. The question then is ‘What now?’ Mamata Banerjee and Mayawati, if one is ambition, the other is Mayavi. The day Brigade Ground in Kolkata paraded opposition to Narendra Modi, what did not go amiss was who among the leaders of the opposition parties is top-gun, if using the term ‘PM Face’ is politically incorrect in this context.

WORSENING UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA

M. Y. Siddiqui - 2019-01-21 05:17
Job market is worsening in India. Government employment is shrinking and employability of our youth waning in view of the country reeling under shortages of quantitative quality higher education with worsening employment in the informal sector of economy, knocked down completely by ill-conceived disastrous demonetisation and impractical hasty implementation of the well thought out Goods and Services Tax. This has been abated further by changes in the calculation formulae of Price Indices and GDP, with no correlation with ground reality, compounded further by suppression of employment data by the NDA Union Government.
