ARVIND KEJRIWAL’S FATE NOW DEPENDS ON THE STAND OF SUPREME COURT

AAP LEADERS OF DELHI MUST HAVE A PLAN B IN CASE APEX COURT IS NOT FAVOURABLE
Sushil Kutty - 2024-04-10 10:48
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal knocked on the Supreme Court’s door Wednesday and sought “urgent listening”. Senior Advocate A M Singhvi, Kejriwal's counsel, asserted that the Delhi Chief Minister's arrest was based on an" unrelied document" and "suppressed from us". Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud told Singhvi to "please send an email". The problem is, evidence against Kejriwal is overwhelming and the apex court might be constrained to come to a decision that the “only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future”. That way, Kejriwal and the future of the current Delhi government will be assured. AAP leaders believe Delhi’s future is linked intrinsically to Kejriwal remaining Chief Minister.

FORMER PRIME MINISTER DR. MANMOHAN SINGH RETIRES FROM POLITICS AFTER 33 YEARS

TWO TIME PM, THE RENOWNED ECONOMIST WAS A SELF-MADE MAN WITH STRONG INTEGRITY
Harihar Swarup - 2024-04-10 10:45
The Congress Parliamentary Party was meeting in Central Hall after 2004 Lok Sabha poll results, to elect a leader who will be Prime Minister. The Congress had secured majority under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and all expectations were that she will be PM. Newly elected Congress MPs were raising slogans that she should accept the top post. There were pressure from the BJP that a foreigner should not become PM. Sushma Swaraj, BJP leader, had even threatened that would shave her head if Sonia Gandhi becomes PM. Amidst pressure that she should accept the highest executive post of the land, Sonia Gandhi sprang a surprise; She proposed the name of Dr. Manmohan Singh, an economist, who was Finance Minister in P V Narasimha’s government. Dr Singh thus became PM, whose government lasted for ten years.

NCERT IS REVISING SCHOOL TEXT BOOKS DISTORTING HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY

CHANGES ARE BEING MADE TO IMPART DEVISIVE IDEAS TO YOUNG MINDS
Krishna Jha - 2024-04-10 10:43
NCERT has suggested revision in the book ‘Politics in India since Independence’, taught in schools. The book has been in the syllabus since 2006-07 and the text that faces change has a four-page section (pages 148-151) on the Ayodhya dispute which details the sequence of events: opening of the locks in 1986, the “mobilisation on both sides,” the demolition of the Babri Masjid. It also talks about the demolition’s aftermath, President’s rule in BJP ruled states, communal violence and the “serious debate over secularism.”

GREATER MIDDLE EAST IS A TICKING TIME BOMB WAITING TO EXPLODE ANY TIME

PALESTINE THREATENS TO BE LIGHTING ROD FOR WIDESPREAD UPHEAVAL
James M Dorsey - 2024-04-10 10:39
The Greater Middle East is a ticking time bomb. Generations in war-wracked Palestine, Syria, and Yemen have little, if anything, to look forward to. Moreover, discontent is mounting and could explode anytime in countries like Jordan, Egypt, and Iran.

INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE ROBERT KENNEDY MAY ACT AS A SPOILER TO BIDEN’S VICTORY

EVEN SHIFT OF A SMALL SECTION OF DEMOCRATIC VOTES MAY HELP DONALD TRUMP WIN
John Bachtell - 2024-04-10 10:36
In the highly polarized Presidential elections in America scheduled in November this year, the announcement by Robert Kennedy Jr. has caused a slight jolt to the prospects of the Democratic Party nominee President Joe Biden. If the anti-MAGA majority is united and votes strategically in the 2024 elections, Biden can defeat Trump in a head-to-head matchup, and Democrats could gain Congressional majorities. The GOP/MAGA leaders know this well. One essential strategy to defeat Biden is propping up third-party campaigns to split the anti-MAGA coalition. With Kennedy Jr. contesting against the Democratic nominee, that possibility is there.

HIGH COURT’S REMARK ON REMOVAL OF KEJRIWAL FROM CM POST IS SIGNIFICANT

CREATING OBSTACLES IS WRONG WHEN CHIEF MINISTER HAS RIGHT TO RULE
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2024-04-09 12:17
Delhi High Court’s remark on the third plea, after rejection of the two earlier, seeking removal of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is significant. The petitioner deserved to have “heavy costs” imposed on him since the petition was filed for “publicity”. The earlier two pleas were already rejected since an elected chief minister has right to rule even from behind the bar, much to the chagrin of the Union Government led by PM Narendra Modi that has made Arvind Kejriwal a detenu on charges of money laundering.

LEFT MAY GET LOK SABHA SEATS FROM BIHAR AFTER A GAP OF 25 YEARS

CASTE-RIDDEN GROUND REALITY IS STILL A BIG HURDLE FOR LEFT SUCCESS
Arun Srivastava - 2024-04-09 12:12
In Bihar, a resurgent left has been primarily responsible for catching the imagination of the proletariat, dalit, EBC and Muslims and motivate them to rally behind the secular Mahagathbandhan in 2020 assembly election, notwithstanding the RJD claim of being the face of the backwards and downtrodden in the state. The combined Left, comprising CPI(ML), CPI and CPI(M), had won 16 of the 29 seats they had jointly contested in 2019. CPI and CPM contested six and four seats and won two each. CPI(ML) was the biggest gainer, winning 12 out of 19 seats it contested.

SUPREME COURT ORDER GRANTING BAIL TO DR. SHOMA SEN IS AN EXPOSURE OF NIA

AFTER LONG SIX YEARS, THE CENTRAL AGENCY COULD NOT PROVE THEIR ACCUSATIONS
Satyaki Chakraborty - 2024-04-09 12:07
The Supreme Court’s order on April 5 granting bail to former Nagpur University professor Dr. Shoma Sen in the Bhima Koregaon case is a blatant exposure of how the National Investigation Agency of the centre keeps people undertrial for years even after failing to produce any worthwhile documents which will vindicate the accusations in the Court.

STAR-CROSSED MAHARASHTRA POLL ALLIANCES SET FOR EPIC BATTLE

MAHA VIKAS AGHADI AND MAHAYUTI BESET WITH MULTIPLE PROBLEMS
Sushil Kutty - 2024-04-09 12:04
The allegation is the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies "cheated their way" to power and then left Maharashtra in shambles. How much did the subterfuge to bring down the Maha Vikas Aghadi cost Maharashtra is another question. The Congress is asking this though the question can be redirected to Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray who started the cheating rigmarole by scrapping the alliance with the BJP and joining the Congress and the then unified NCP led by Sharad Pawar to form government.

LITTLE OUTBURST AGAINST CAA NOTIFICATION IN ASSAM ON THE EVE OF LOK SABHA POLLS

CHIEF MINISTER HIMANTA BISWA SHARMA EXUDES CONFIDENCE AT BJP’S SUCCESS
Ashis Biswas - 2024-04-09 11:59
Assam Chief Minister Mr Himanta Biswa Sarma leads a charmed life : confounding his numerous opponents, the operationalisation of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has hardly raised a ripple in the state so far.
