Amulya Ganguli - 2016-04-25 12:45
It is easy to imagine how the BJP would have reacted if a confrontation between students from the mainland and the locals in Srinagar’s National Institute of Technology (NIT) had taken place when the Congress and the National Conference were in power in the state.

STRATEGIC SALE, LEASE OUT OF CPSE TO PRIVATE SECTOR

GREAT ASSET STRIPPING OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW OWNERS
Nantoo Banerjee - 2016-04-25 12:43
The BJP-led NDA government at the centre seems to be turning desperate to dismantle the state control over corporations and institutions. With the powerful political combine nearing the mid-term of its five-year tenure before the next Parliamentary election becomes due in 2019, the government seems to be getting impatient with the age old economic system that championed the cause of public sector enterprises (PSEs), encouraged the take-over of companies left sick by their private owners and those family-managed and financially exploited private banks and insurance outfits to help faster capital formation, industrialization, workers’ protection and better collection, utilization and distribution of public savings for economic growth.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no mistaking it. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) seems to be succeeding in keeping the focus away from its acts of omission and commission, corruption and scams plaguing its five-year rule.

NITISH FAILING TO CONTROL PARTY LEGISLATORS
Arun Srivastava - 2016-04-23 09:28
While a media hype is being created about Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar possessing the prime ministerial element and is the only politician who can replace the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the abnormal spurt in crime which saw the killing of police officers and even political activists of the ruling RJD, has raised fresh question marks on the claim of providing Sushashan, good governance and about the law and order situation in the state.

KOHINOOR HAS A CHEQUERED HISTORY

INDIA AND BRITAIN HAVE TO NEGOTIATE AMICABLY
Harihar Swarup - 2016-04-23 09:25
One doesn’t know if Kohinoor will ever be returned to India? Governments after Governments have pledged to make all possible efforts to bring back the diamond but the successive British governments have maintained that India doesn’t have claim over Kohinoor. By no stretch of imagination it can be interpreted that the diamond was gifted by the young Maharaja Duleep Singh to the Queen of England. One theory is that the diamond might have been stolen.

The announcement caused panic and triggered a massive protest by the government servants through their associations. About 1850 government servants are living in this area. The areas are knowing as Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar.

INDIAN MINISTERS OVERESTIMATING GROWTH STORY

RAJAN’S NOTE OF CAUTION IS FULLY JUSTIFIED
S. Sethuraman - 2016-04-22 09:31
The nation awaits in a few weeks the report card of the Modi Government on completion of its first two years and its labours thus far to transform what it regards a by and large undeveloped India into a leading global power of the 21st century. So charged are its leading lights for that red letter day that they had begun to look askance at anything said or written by anyone meanwhile that tends to detract from the impending glory.

BJP-MUKT BHARAT AFTER 2019 POLL IS POSSIBLE

RAHUL AND NITISH MUST HAVE PERFECT UNDERSTANDING
Nitya Chakraborty - 2016-04-22 09:27
Bihar Chief Minister and the newly elected President of Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar has sounded the poll bugle exactly three years before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He has called for the cooperation of the secular forces who are also looking for replacing BJP from the centre in 2019 elections. Significantly, Lalu Yadav has announced that Nitish is the possible PM face of the secular alliance and his immediate endorsement has surprised the political circles. But Lalu has a game plan and according to that, if Nitish Kumar shifts himself to the national stage, Bihar will be in the hands of his family. Already Tejaswi is the Deputy Chief Minister and in any repositioning of Nitish to the centre after the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, Tejaswi will have the right claim to be the next CM of Bihar.

VIJAYAKANT VERSUS RAJNIKANT WAR HEATS UP
Kalyani Shankar - 2016-04-21 09:55
Even as the poll scene in Tamil Nadu is picking up, there is an interesting filmy tinge in the poll campaign. There are clashes between two top matinee idols – film star turned politician Captain Vijayakant and Tamil superstar Rajnikant. Both have their fan clubs and huge fan followings. Affectionately called Captain by his fans after his blockbuster film Captain Prabhakaran, Vijayakant has the largest fan base in the state. He is also the most sought after politician by the opposition parties.
