CENTRALISING AUTHORITY, GAGGING DEMOCRACY

CONGRESS IS INSTITUTIONALISING CORRUPTION
Nantoo Banerjee - 2013-06-14 10:58
What are so very common among Navin Chawla, Polayil Joseph Thomas and Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma? A lot, in fact. All of them are retired bureaucrats, connected with corruption controversies, have deep-rooted political links and rewarded with such important jobs that have powers to destabilise government and to corrupt democratic institutions. The former IAS officers received their-post retirement rewards from the Congress-led UPA government, almost arbitrarily, under highly debatable circumstances.

ADVANI’S REVOLT AND SURRENDER

IT HAS ONLY STRENTHENED THE HANDS OF MODI
Upendra Prasad - 2013-06-12 09:50
The revolt against the party leadership and subsequent surrender of Lal Krishna Advani has only dented his image as a strong and shrewd politician. In this process he has gained nothing and lost what was left with him at the fag end of his political career. In his resignation letter he has lamented the improper functioning of the party and the self serving attitude of the party leaders, but his immediate reason for resignation was to put pressure on the party to backtrack the decision to elevate Narendra Modi in national politics by anointing him as the Chairman of Election Campaign Committee.

ADVANI NOT RECONCILED TO MODI ERA: BJP’S FACTIONAL BATTLE INTENSIFIES

Amulya Ganguli - 2013-06-11 10:03
The salubrious setting for the BJP’s national executive meetings in Goa provided an unlikely background for one of the most vicious instances of political infighting that one has witnessed in recent years. Given the kind of protagonist involved in the battle – L.K. Advani and Narendra Modi with their respective groups of supporters inside and outside the BJP, the RSS in the background and allies like the JD (U) and Shiv Sena watching from the sidelines – it will be months before any calm is restored – if ever.
