Thus screamed the headlines in some of India’s leading newspapers reporting on the hosting of the first-ever round of the Formula One (F1) motor racing world championship in the country with a breathlessness that’s astonishing even by the prevalent low standards. The whole race—to watch which India’s tycoons and sports and film celebrities travelled long distances in private jets, thus creating congestion at Delhi airport—was over in less than 91 minutes.

United Nations Organization has declared 2011, as the ‘International Year of Chemistry”. It is to honour the completion of 100 years of awarding the Nobel prize in chemistry to Marie Curie (1867 - 1934) who discovered a new radio-active element called polonium. She was often ill due to her excessive exposure to radioactive rays and died at the age of 61 due to Leukemia. The year is to remember great scientists who sacrificed their lives for the service of the mankind through science.

There are some 120 species of marine mammal to be found in the world, and a fourth of these may be found in India and adjacent countries.Dugongs are one of the ancient living creatures underwater and are most interesting aquatic mammals.
