New Delhi:India has proposed relaxation of visa norms for foreign disaster management teams and has asked the 18 member nations of East Asia Summit to create a framework for coordination of international assistance during natural disasters.

All over the world hard wood becomes a scarce commodity. The furniture manufacturers are vigorously searching for an ecofriendly alternative to wood. The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) at Thiruvananthapuram, a constituent laboratory of CSIR has developed the technology to make wood substitute from natural fibre polymer composites. It has been a pioneer in the research of natural fibre - composites for more than two decades.

Unbelievable as it may seem, the registrar of West Bengal University of Health Sciences has filed a special leave petition against the judgement of the High Court of Calcutta High on 28 September in the case of Dr. Amit Banerjee vs State of West Bengal & Ors. (A.S.T. 38 & 39 of 2012) quashing the dismissal of Dr Banerjee as the Vice Chancellor of WBUHS. The dismissal was on the plea that Dr Banerjee failed to join the news within a date, arbitrarily fixed by the department of health and family welfare, Government of West Bengal. He did neither seek approval from nor inform the VC, his controlling authority before filing the SLP.
