India to work with African nations to counter maritime piracy

New Delhi: India has decided to work with African countries on issues relating to global security, particularly terrorism and maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia, said the Secretary (West) in the Indian External Affairs Ministry, M Ganapathi while delivering his inaugural address at the India-Africa Strategic Dialogue, organised by the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) here on Thursday.

New Delhi: The former Chairman of National Commission on Farmers, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan has decided to give legal teeth to women farmers fighting for their rights. He has decided to move a Private Member Bill on Women Farmers' Entitlements in Rajya Sabha by the first week of December this year.

The Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have noted that St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ economy has been adversely affected by two natural disasters in the last twelve months, on top of the impacts of the global slowdown and higher commodity prices. As a result, real GDP has contracted and public sector debt has risen. Directors welcomed the authorities’ commitment to prudent macroeconomic policies and encouraged them to press ahead with efforts to enhance the economy’s resilience to shocks and foster sustainable growth.
