National Innovation Council to Involve States and Central Ministries in Popularising Innovation

New Delhi: The National Innovation Council (NInC) has asked all State Governments to set up State Innovation Councils to drive innovations in their respective states. There has been a positive response from several State Governments regarding the setting up of these Councils. NInC has also written to central Government Ministries to set up autonomous Sectoral Innovation Councils, aligned to Ministries, to drive innovations and competitive advantage in multiple sectors. These Councils would aim to co-opt domain experts and other stakeholders to prepare a Roadmap for Innovations for the next decade for identified sectors.

National Lighting Code to tackle light pollution, tresspass and its safe and efficient use

New Delhi: Shri Rajiv Agarwal, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs released the National Lighting Code (NLC) -2010 here today. Published by the Bureau of Indian Standards the Code aims at encouraging good lighting practices and systems which would minimize light pollution, glare, light trespass and conserve energy while maintaining safety, security, utility and productivity.

Major Penalty Proceedings Recommened against 226 Officers

New Delhi: The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) disposed of 804 cases during December 2010 referred to it for advice. Of these, 667 complaints were sent for necessary action/ATR whereas 48 complaints were sent for investigation and report. No action was required on 123 complaints.
