CONGRESS STAND ON HAMAS-ISRAEL WAR REFLECTING CONFLICTING VIEWS ON HAMAS

AT ONE STAGE, THE CWC WAS NOT AGREEABLE TO RELEASE THE RESOLUTION
Harihar Swarup - 2023-10-23 12:15
As the conflict between Israel and Hamas intensifies and the horrifying scale of the October 7 attack on civilians emerges, there is a growing disquiet in a section of the Congress about the working committee resolution that did not mention Hamas or condemn the terror attack.

ISS OBJECTION TO ANANT AMBANI’S BOARD LEVEL ELEVATION AT RIL MAY BE VALID

MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE CAN’T BE DISCOUNTED TO RUN A GLOBAL ENTERPRISE
Nantoo Banerjee - 2023-10-23 12:05
The recommendation of the international proxy advisory firm, Institutional Shareholders Services (ISS), asking shareholders to vote against the proposal of 28-year-old Anant, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, for appointment on the board of Rs.9.75 lakh crore Reliance Industries may not look entirely unjust. Few will deny that Anant is too young and inexperienced to be one of the key drivers of RIL, India’s largest company by market value and one of the world’s top 100 firms by Fortune ranking. “A vote against this resolution is warranted as Anant Ambani’s limited leadership/board experience of around six years raises concerns on his potential contribution to the board,” ISS said in a note earlier this month, which it shared with Bloomberg.

CRYPTOCURRENCY WINTER COULD TRANSITION TO SPRING AS EARLY AS 2024

INDIA SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE MEASURES FOR EVOLVING REGULATIONS
Arun Kumar Shrivastav - 2023-10-23 11:32
The cryptocurrency market is going through a prolonged winter, and very few things seem to be going in its favor, especially from the point of view of dramatic rise in prices and sky-high valuations of crypto coins. However, the cryptocurrency space is witnessing developments of far-reaching significance. For example, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has received legal debacles while dealing with cryptocurrency companies in recent months. The US SEC can be compared with India’s Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

BJP IT CELL OVERSHADOWS PIB FACT CHECKING UNIT

M.Y. Siddiqui - 2023-10-22 15:54
With the massive ruling BJP IT Cell at the helm, notorious for daily mega doses of fake news and lies and the hard pressed mainstream captive (godi) media carrying those lead of fake news and bundle of lies in expanded form on their channels/print media and social media as their lead/hash tag, to serve the RSS Pariwar’s agenda of hate, communalism, divisive politics, religious polarization, minorities bashings/subjugation, suppressing women, Dalit, tribal, criminalization of dissents, bogus hyper nationalism, just to gain majoritarian electoral supports, coming from the corridors of power of the ruling Sangh Pariwar, the role of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check Unit (FCU) has become very challenging. In such prevailing scenario and the authoritarian one-man rule in the RSS Pariwar union government, the job of FCU to check facts and counter fake news and stories emanating from the official side has been rendered ineffective. It simply cannot dare do that. To this extent, the FCU has become moribund as the movers and shakers in the government having taken oath of office and allegiance to the Constitution of India overshadow it.
