NEW DELHI – Inadequate sanitation causes India considerable economic losses, equivalent to 6.4 per cent of India’s GDP in 2006 at US$53.8[i] billion (Rs.2.4 trillion), according to The Economic Impacts of Inadequate Sanitation in India, a new report from the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP), a global partnership administered by the World Bank.

IMF Approves US$168.1 Million Disbursement for Dominican Republic

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the fourth review of the Dominican Republic’s economic performance under a program supported by a 28-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA). The completion of the review enabled the immediate disbursement of an amount equivalent to SDR 109.45 million (about US$168.1 million at current rates), bringing total disbursements to an amount equivalent to SDR 547.25 million (about US$840.4 million at current rates).
