New York: Led by China and India, the Asia-Pacific region made a significant economic recovery this year, following recession in previous years, but weakening economies in developed countries could pose new challenges for the region in 2011, according to a report from the UN’s commission for the region.

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Mr. David Cowen visited Dhaka during December 6−15, 2010. The mission conducted the 2010 Article IV consultation discussions and reached a mission-level agreement in principle with authorities on their economic reform program, which could be supported by the IMF under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

KOLKATA: The CPI(M) leaders and some of their allies of ruling Left Front in West Bengal such as the CPI have of late been inculcating a notional perception about signs of turnaround in favour of LF ending the pervading despair among the rank and file of LF after the debacle in the 15th parliamentary elections in 2009.
