ASSAM CM HIMANTA BISWA SHARMA LEADS LOK SABHA POLL CAMPAIGN OF BJP ON COMMUNAL PLANK

INDIA BLOC SHOWING NO INITIATIVE FOR TALKS AS CONGRESS LEADERSHIP IS SHARPLY DIVIDED
Ashis Biswas - 2023-10-13 14:14
In Assam, Chief Minister Mr Himanta Biswa Sarma, responding to fresh charges of corruption from the opposition, has launched a sharp counter attack specially targeting the Congress party in the pre-poll campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam unlike in other states, appears to be slightly better placed than its rivals, somewhat helped by a continuing lack of cohesion within a divided opposition.

FIST FIGHTS, LOCKING UNION MINISTER IN PARTY OFFICE MARK BJP’S FACTIONALISM IN BENGAL

AMIT SHAH AND J P NADDA’S VISIT MAY NOT HELP MUCH IN SETTING FUNCTIONING IN ORDER
Tirthankar Mitra - 2023-10-13 14:11
Just as Union home minister, Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda are about to make a brief visit to West Bengal early next week, fissures threaten to turn into cracks in the state BJP unit. While leading lights of Trinamool Congress, the ruling dispensation are making no effort to conceal their glee at the infighting in the principal Opposition outfit in the state, there are little perceptible signs of its troubles coming to an end.

DELHI POLICE RAIDS ON NEWSCLICK IS A SORT OF McCARTHYSM BY THE CENTRE

NARENDRA MODI GOVERNMENT IS OUT TO CRIPPLE INDEPENDENT MEDIA IN INDIA
Prabhat Patnaik - 2023-10-13 14:04
The central government’s hounding of Newsclick reminds one of the children’s story about a tiger and a goat drinking water from the same stream. The tiger, wanting an excuse to attack the goat, accuses it of muddying the water it is drinking; when the goat points to the impossibility of this, as the tiger is upstream and the water is flowing not to the tiger but away from it, the tiger says: “well, your father had muddied the water I was drinking”.

JUST CONDEMNING HAMAS IS NOT ADEQUATE, INDIA HAS TO EXTEND SOLIDARITY TO PALESTINIANS ALSO

THERE CAN BE NO LASTING PEACE IN WEST ASIA AS LONG AS ISRAELI OCCUPTION CONTINUES
P. Sudhir - 2023-10-12 11:14
The ferocious conflict which has erupted with the astounding Hamas attacks in southern Israel and the Israeli counteroffensive with the savage bombardment of Gaza constitutes a new chapter in the ongoing history of the occupation and the resistance to it by the Palestinian people.

INFIGHTING IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR BJP IN RAJASTHAN POLLS

ANTI-INCUMBENCY REMAINS THE MAJOR HURDLE FOR CONGRESS CM GEHLOT
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2023-10-12 09:59
Rajasthan polls, that has been rescheduled for November 25 from November 23 by the Election Commission of India on account of very large number of weddings in the state, has offered the twin challenges of “infighting and anti-incumbency” for both the Congress and the BJP.

BRS UNDER K CHANDRASEKHAR RAO IS STILL FRONTRUNNER IN TELANGANA ASSEMBLY POLLS

CONGRESS HAS REVIVED A LOT BUT THE GAP IS TOO WIDE TO BRIDGE BY NOVEMBER 30
Sushil Kutty - 2023-10-12 09:55
Elections often throw up surprises. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao isn’t one for unexpected surprises though. He is confident his party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, will keep control of the Telangana assembly at the expense of the Congress and the BJP. Reports say money and liquor are inundating the poll-bound state while KCR battles charges of plotting unending family rule. The Telangana Chief Minister is immune to such accusations, and he is convinced overwhelming numbers of Telangana voters will once again vote Bharat Rashtra Samithi to power with him at the helm poised for launching a national role.

NARENDRA MODI GOVERNMENT IS INTOLERANT TO ANY INDEPENDENT MEDIA

NEWSCLICK CASE IS A STARK EXAMPLE OF VINDICTIVENESS BY CENTRAL AGENCIES
Krishna Jha - 2023-10-12 09:50
An unprecedented gloom has been setting over in our hitherto unblemished skies. All pervasive, suffocating. Since last nine years, right from 2014, there is all out destruction of everything positive. And it does get noticed. The sentinels of media convey to country how pillars are crumbling. Manipur incidents could be shared only after three months, but when it did, it shook the world. The stream continues to flow overcoming the deterrents. For the very sense of awareness about our link with the world, with evolution, or its negation, we are indebted to media. Slowly, media has started occupying the space that it has always deserved. But not for long. Media must be tamed if it has to be ‘His Master’s voice’, this fact has gone deep for those in the power game. All other options are getting removed from the scene.
