An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by Ms. Valerie Cerra visited Cape Verde during September 15-28, 2010 to conduct the 2010 Article IV Consultation and reach understandings on a policy framework for a new one-year Policy Support Instrument (PSI). The mission met with Finance Minister Cristina Duarte, Central Bank Governor Carlos Burgo, other government officials, labor unions, representatives of the business community, members of civil society, and development partners.

New Delhi: Kashmir, once said to be the paradise on earth, has now become a place of suffering. The problem is yet to be appropriately diagnosed for a perfect solution. The opinions regarding diagnosis of the disease greatly differ and so is the case with possible remedies. Unrest and violence, insurgency and terrorism are but only manifested symptoms of the disease which many of us are thinking to be the problem. It is this, that as a whole, is known as the Kashmir Problem which includes the reasons that are responsible for this situation, the sufferings of the people as a result of such unrest and violence, and the challenges that we are facing in attaining once again the peace and the bliss that were supposed to have existed in the proverbial expression of the paradise on earth.

New Delhi: After the Union Government of India, under stiff opposition, was forced to let the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Ordinance, 2010 expired, and the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2010 withdrawn, the Cabinet has decided not to re-promulgate any fresh ordinance in this matter, but to bring an amended version of the legislation in the winter session of the Parliament.
