Who says India does not have national pride? Sitting in the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium on Sunday evening I was witness to this nationalism at the opening ceremony of the CWG when the spectators gave a standing ovation to the Indian contingent as they marched past. The stadium with its high tech lighting and beautiful decorations has dazzled the western media so much that they hailed, “India has arrived.” The British media which was critical before the event was gaga after the opening ceremony while the Canadian media called it “pitch perfect”.

A halting global recovery may run into a fresh bout of financial market instability due to lingering weaknesses of the banking system and the sovereign debt crisis in the euro zone, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned in its latest World Economic Outlook. Though emerging out of recession in mid-2009, advanced economies are on a sluggish pace of recovery, and have several challenges to overcome to achieve sustained healthy growth.

India and Russia will jointly produce Fifth Generation Aircraft (FGA) at an estimated investment of about $ 25 billion. The production partners would be Sukhoy from the Russian side and HAL from the Indian side. Within a span of next 10 years, India will get about 250 to 300 FGA from the joint production.
