KOLKATA: The CPI(M) leaders and some of their allies of ruling Left Front in West Bengal such as the CPI have of late been inculcating a notional perception about signs of turnaround in favour of LF ending the pervading despair among the rank and file of LF after the debacle in the 15th parliamentary elections in 2009. One of the hidden reasons for this optimism is delimitation of constituencies. The Opposition, mainly the AITC, criticized the delimitation alleging that the recast constituencies were aimed against those seats, held by the party.

At the request of the Netherlands authorities a Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) team led by the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF has visited the Netherlands between November 29 and December 14, 2010 in order to conduct an update of the Fund’s 2004 assessment of the soundness and stability of the Netherlands financial sector. It has been the practice that such assessments are undertaken roughly every seven years.

Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have commended the authorities of Cambodia for their timely policy response, which had helped mitigate the impact of the global crisis and supported the nascent recovery. Directors noted, however, that to achieve sustainable broad-based growth, it will be necessary to address the economy’s long-standing structural weaknesses which were exposed by the global crisis. This includes expanding the limited fiscal space; strengthening monetary policy, especially in light of high degree of dollarization; preserving financial system stability; and promoting private sector-led economic diversification.
