Aid for Trade commitments rise to US$ 41.7 billion in 2008

The WTO Secretariat, on 27 May 2010, organized a workshop on Aid for Trade and Development Finance. A main message emerging from the workshop was that Aid for Trade is an integral part of the development finance architecture, and was of even greater importance during the period of economic recovery.

International trade: First quarter of 2010 sees trade value rise by about 25%

The value of world merchandise trade was around 25% higher in the first three months of 2010 than in the same period of 2009, according to WTO figures released on 2 June 2010. Global exports rose by 27%, while imports rose slightly less, at 24%. These are “year-on-year” quarterly comparisons.

ICAR Study shows that Crops are being Impacted by Climate Change

New Delhi: As per assessment study conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on the impact of climate change, a rise in temperature reduces crop duration, increases crop respiration rates, affects the equilibrium between crops and pests, hastens nutrient mineralization in soils, decreases fertilizer use efficiencies, and increases evapo-transpiration.

US Universities Keen to Set up Institutions in India

Presidents and Deans of many US Universities met Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Kapil Sibal today at Washington DC and expressed their desire to set up higher education institutions in India. They also appreciated the process of academic reforms initiated in India and said that they would like to be active partners in the growth story of Indian education.
