New Delhi: The US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) is on a three-day port visit to Chennai in India. The Decatur is led by Commander Shanti Sethi, an American of Indian descent. Commander Sethi is also the first female commanding officer of a US Navy ship to visit Chennai.

IMF Reaches Arrangement with Burundi for US$10.4 Million Disbursement

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the fifth review of Burundi's economic performance under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement and extended the ECF arrangement to August 31, 2011. The decision enables the authorities to draw an additional amount equivalent to SDR 6.6 million (about US$10.4 million), bringing total disbursements under the arrangement to an amount equivalent to SDR 39.6 million (about US$62.3 million). The Board’s decision was taken on a lapse of time basis.

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission visited Sierra Leone during March 2-15, 2011 to conduct discussions for the second review of the program supported under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) which was approved by the IMF Executive Board in June 2010. The mission met with His Excellency, President Ernest Bai Koroma; Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Samura Kamara; Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Mr. Minkailu Mansaray; Minister of Trade, Dr. Richard Konteh; the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Mr. Sheku Sesay; other senior officials of the government and the central bank, representatives of the business community, and development partners.
