Guidelines of the Department of Public Enterprises will be amended

New Delhi: The Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Shri Praful Patel today had a day- long interaction with the Chief Executives of the Maharatna, Navratna and Miniratna Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs). The first of its kind meeting, the Minister heard out all the issues as highlighted by the CEOs of the CPSEs and said that in the globalised environment, the public sector has to be given more teeth and more support so that they are able to meet all challenges globally.

First Meeting of the Hospitality Development and Promotion Board Held

New Delhi: The newly constituted Hospitality Development and Promotion Board (HDPB) in its first meeting held in New Delhi has decided that various clearances/approvals for Hotel Projects would be given based on the statutory provisions of the concerned agencies. However, the Board will review and monitor whether the time limits stipulated for according such clearances are being adhered to or not.

Surveillance System to be set up

New Delhi: The Centralized Monitoring System (CMS) is proposed to be set up for Lawful Interception and Monitoring of communications to address the national security concerns. It will automise the present manual system of interception and monitoring, which will enhance the secrecy of intercepted numbers and will cut down the delay in provisioning.

Sikkim Annual Plan 2011-12 Finalized at Rs.1400 crores

New Delhi: The Annual Plan for Sikkim for the year 2011-12 was finalized here today at a meeting between Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Pawan Chamling. The Plan outlay was agreed at Rs.1400 crores.

New Delhi: The Parliamentary Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports met here today under the chairmanship of Shri. Ajay Maken, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports. The Committee deliberated on the proposal of the Ministry to bring out a National Sports Development Bill to promote sporting excellence in the country.

Hundreds of Fake Educational and Technical Institutes including 21 universities functioning in India

New Delhi: The UGC has identified 21 fake universities/institutions functioning in different parts of the country in contravention of the UGC Act, 1956; out of which, 8 are in Uttar Pradesh, 6 in Delhi and one each in Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

NE Insurgent Groups get Chinese arms

New Delhi: There have been inputs suggesting visit of some leaders of insurgent groups in the North Eastern region to China on several occasions, with the objective to establish rapport with Chinese authorities to facilitate procurement of arms and ammunition from arms agents in that country. The armoury being acquired from China by the insurgent groups is being smuggled through Thailand and Sino-Myanmar border to the North Eastern States. The acquisition of arms is facilitated by the easy availability of weapons in the Sino-Myanmar border towns like Tengchong, Ruili and Yingjiang in Yunnan province.

Accurate Estimate of Infiltrators Not Possible

New Delhi: Since entry of foreign nationals infiltrated into the country is clandestine and surreptitious, it is not possible to have a correct estimate of such infiltrators from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka living in the country.
