Washington - The World Bank Managing Director Juan Jose Daboub signed an agreement with the Ambassador of Kuwait in Washington H.E. Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Jaber Al-Sabah to transfer US$50 million to the World Bank-administered multi-donor Trust Fund to support the ongoing Palestinian Reform and Development Program (PRDP). This amount is in addition to the $80 million that the State of Kuwait generously provided to the PRDP trust fund in August 2008.

WASHINGTON — Brazil became the first country to contribute to the Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) set up to support the Caribbean nation's reconstruction in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake of January 12th. WASHINGTON — The World Bank has released a new five-year plan to help poor countries reduce their high fertility rates and prevent the widespread deaths of their mothers and children. In endorsing its Reproductive Health Action Plan 2010-2015, the Bank warned that family planning and other reproductive health programs that are vital to poor women had fallen off the development radars of many low-income countries, donor governments, and aid agencies.
