New Delhi: The Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) between Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), State Governments (Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra) and Japanese Consultants was signed here today, in the presence of Shri Anand Sharma, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Masayuki Naoshima, Japanese Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both the countries, representatives from State Governments and business partners from Japan.

Census-2011: house listing in six States begins tomorrow

The first phase of Houselisting & Housing Census along with collection of information for preparation of National Population Register in the States of Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttaranchal and Maharashtra commences tomorrow. Starting with canvassing of Houselisting and Housing Census and National Population Register schedules on April 1, 2010, the mammoth exercise has been undertaken in the States of West Bengal, Assam, A&N Islands, Goa, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh.

New Delhi: For bringing about overall improvement in the quality of railway catering, the catering policy is being reviewed by the Ministry of Railways. Temporarily, however, the supervision of catering services on a few trains is being undertaken by Railways on an experimental basis.

New Delhi: The Central Vigilance Committee (CVC), set up by Hon'ble Supreme Court in the context of Writ Petition no. 196/2001 to study functioning of Public Distribution System (PDS), has submitted its reports to the Hon'ble Supreme Court in respect of 12 States/UTs, namely, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Orissa, Rajasthan, Kerala and Uttarakhand as well as a report on Computerisation of Public Distribution System (PDS) operations.

These medicines are being sold mostly as branded medicines which pushes up the retail price of these medicines. There is still a large population of poor people in the country which finds it difficult to afford these medicines. In fact access to quality health care is a challenge in a developing country like India.

Lalit Modi may have been sent off as the boss of the Indian Premier League's T-20 extravaganza by the board of control of cricket in India (BCCI), but that does not guarantee that his ghost will stay inactive in the affairs of the cricket world's biggest money making enterprise. Modi's ouster is unlikely to lead to a shut-down of his hand-picked teams or franchisees, in which he has financial interest, directly or indirectly. The complex funding pattern of some of these franchisees, with which Modi had been deeply involved, is unlikely to undergo any substantial change in the near future. The money involved is too large and stakes are very high for the team owners and their associates both in India and abroad.
