New Delhi: In the light of the meetings of the Executive Council and the Special General Assembly of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), scheduled to be held on 18th May 2010, Government has sent a fresh communication today, i.e., 17th May,2010 to the President /Secretary General / General Secretary of IOA and all recognised NSFs to deliberate and decide on the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance of the Olympic and Sports Movement in the interest of sports in the country.

New Delhi: The Union Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Tourism Minister Kumari Selja today urged the State Governments to work out Slum-free State and Slum Free City Plans where all the poor residents would own a home and access basic services. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh , she also urged that all the slum dwellers are provided with property rights to enable them to lead a life with dignity.

IMF Approves US$1.13 billion Disbursement for Pakistan

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the fourth review of Pakistan's economic performance under a program supported by a Stand-By Arrangement (SBA). The completion of the review enables the immediate disbursement of an amount equivalent to SDR 766.7 million (about US$1.13 billion), bringing total disbursements under the arrangement to an amount equivalent to SDR 4.94 billion (about US$ 7.27 billion). The Board also approved rephasing three remaining disbursements into two, while keeping the total access under the arrangement unchanged.
