UKRAINE PRESIDENT ZELENSKY IS FINALLY RECOGNISING THAT HE CAN NOT WIN AGAINST RUSSIA

THIS IS HIGH TIME FOR A NEGOTIATED SETTLEMENT TO END THE 33 MONTH LONG WAR
Ben Chacko - 2024-12-03 10:55
LONDON: Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is approaching the most dangerous moments in his political career. He has suggested that the war with Russia might end with a diplomatic settlement that included membership of NATO. Implicit in this is a recognition that his previous position — that the war’s end could only come about with the recovery of the territories that Russia reincorporated, the Donbass and Crimea — is impossible.

UNCERTAINTY HANGS OVER THE FUTURE OF HEZBOLLAH AS ALSO ITS CAPACITY
Asad Mirza - 2024-12-02 11:51
The ceasefire in Lebanon apart from giving respite to the beleaguered Lebanese, will also be a litmus test for the Hezbollah on whether it can continue to flourish as a political and militant outfit in Lebanon or not.

SYRIA'S REIGNITING CIVIL WAR HAS BEEN KEPT SIMMERING BY THE NATO POWERS

PEACE ACTIVISTS MUST PUT PRESSURE ON STARMER FOR EARLY CEASEIRE
Ben Chacko - 2024-12-02 11:48
LONDON: Reignited civil war in Syria is down to destabilising shockwaves from Israel’s wars of aggression in the Middle East and the malign role of NATO powers in shielding the jihadist forces in Idlib now terrorising Aleppo.

ICC WARRANT OF ARREST AGAINST MYANMAR JUNTA CHIEF IS POSITIVE FOR REBEL FORCES

MAINLY ACCUSED OF ATROCITIES AGAINST ROHINGYA MUSLIMS, IT IS A WIN FOR PRO-DEMOCRACY FORCES
Tirthankar Mitra - 2024-11-30 11:48
International Criminal Court (ICC) has decided to pursue a warrant of arrest against Myanmar military leader General Min Aung Hlaing for crimes against humanity. The atrocities committed against the Rohingya people have gone unpunished far too long. Leaving survivors in limbo, it sent a wrong message that perpetrators can escape accountability. ICC's decision gives credence to enforcement of international justice.

TRUMP’S PROJECT 2025 INCLUDES LARGE SCALE CUTTING OF PUBLIC SECTOR JOBS

MEDICARE FOR POOR WILL BE ADVERSELY HIT AFFECTING THE PEOPLE OF COLOUR MORE
Mark Gruenberg - 2024-11-30 11:44
WASHINGTON DC: Fouled up weather forecasts. Staff shortages slowing services. More workers dying of heat stroke on the job. More pollution, which leads to more asthma and unclean water. Cut down school lunches, with none in the summer. Veterans not getting VA health care. More hate crimes. Weaker labour laws and enforcement.

EXPOSURE OF BOLSONARO’S PLOT TO KILL PRESIDENT LULA SHOWS THE FASCIST NATURE OF FAR RIGHT

BEAZILIAN LEFT HAS TO BE EVER VIGILANT TO COMBAT THE CHALLENGE FROM THE REACTIONARY FORCES
Olavo Passos de Souza - 2024-11-29 11:40
NEW YORK: Last week, two major events dominated Brazilian public discourse: the G20 summit, and the exposure of an assassination plot that targeted the country’s president, LuizInácio Lula da Silva.

COP29 AGREEMENT HAS LEFT MANY GAPS IN THE FINAL AGREEMENT NEEDING TO BE TACKLED

ROCKY ROAD AHEAD IN CLIMATE MITIGATION AS WHO PAYS WHAT IS YET TO BE DECIDED
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2024-11-28 10:59
The UN Climate Conference (COP29), world’s largest climate conference that brought together nearly 200 countries in Baku, Azerbaijan, wrapped up with a hard-fought agreement on climate finance but uncertainties over the climate crisis mitigation still looms large. Tripling finance to developing countries from $100 billion to $300 billion annually by 2035, aiming to scale up finance to $1.3 trillion from public and private sources, will be of little use if the issue of “who pays what is not decided” and the fund committed is not delivered in time.

HOW SOCIALIST SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS PROVED RIGHT ON HIS PRE-POLL VIEWS?

AMERICAN LIBERALS ARE NOW SAYING THE SAME BUT AFTER BEING TOO LATE
David Moscrop - 2024-11-28 10:42
NEW YORK: As the United States — and the world — prepares for another Trump administration, revisiting the question of whether Bernie Sanders could have defeated him in 2016 may seem unproductive. Eight years ago feels like ancient history. Yet reframing the question “Would Sanders have won?” to “What lessons from Sanders can help shape a better future for US politics?” proves more relevant than ever.

In a big boost to the Latin American Left, Uruguay’s left wing opposition candidate Yamandu Orsi became the country’s new president after defeating convincingly the candidate of the ruling far right coalition Alvaro Delgado in the presidential elections held on Sunday, November 24.

BANGLADESH MEDIA TURNS AGAINST DR. MUHAMMAD YUNUS FOR HIS CONFUSED VIEWS

MOST NEWSPAPERS AND TV CHANNELS ARE QUESTIONING HIS CAPACITY TO RULE
Ashis Biswas - 2024-11-26 11:38
KOLKATA: It is not often that an interview given by a country's leader to a foreign media creates a major political controversy at home. But a recent interview given by Dr Mohammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the caretaker Bangladesh administration, has done just that, generating a fresh domestic debate questioning his motives.
