New Delhi: Air Marshal NAK Browne PVSM AVSM VM assumed the charge as the new Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) at Air Headquarters, today. He was formerly the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of IAF’s Western Air Command (WAC), the largest and the most vital Operational Command of the IAF.

As we move into the New Year, it is time to take stock of the state of our economy-the achievements in 2010 and the challenges we face in 2011.The most outstanding achievement has been the recovery from the economic slowdown that we have been facing since 2008, as a consequence of the global downturn. It is now being recognised the world over that the management of our economy during this period has been appreciable and we have been able to minimise the effects of global recession on our economy. India continues to be the 2nd fastest growing economy of the world.

New Delhi: The 16th National Level Meeting at Home Secretary Level between India and Myanmar concluded here last evening. Home Secretary Shri G.K. New Delhi: Government has now decided to exclude the entire area of the States of Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland from the Protected Area regime notifiedunder the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order 1958, initially for a period of one year.

New Delhi: At end-September 2010, India’s external debt stock was US$ 295.8 billion reflecting an increase of 12.8 per cent over the level of US$ 262.3 billion at end-March 2010. The long-term debt increased by 9.5 per cent to US$ 229.8 billion, while short-term debt showed an increase of 25.8 per cent to US$ 66.0 billion.
