Safety of Indians in Australia, no agreement proposed

New Delhi: The Ministry of Indian Overseas Affairs has signed Memorandum of Understanding with some of the countries in the Gulf for protection as well as welfare of Overseas Indian workers. There is no proposal to sign such an agreement with Australia for protection of Indian workers/students.

Politics, modes of agitations and operation of laws have witnessed new trends during Punjab's Akali-BJP regime which completes three years in office this month. The most disturbing trend in politics is increased communalisation. This has happened when both the Akali and BJP leaders claim that their unity is a guarantee for communal peace and harmony in the state. The hollowness of their claims is indicated by the growing incidence of communal tensions and violence Punjab has been witnessing after the Akali-BJP coalition came to power in 2007.
