Director-General of WTO Pascal Lamy, in his report on the state of play in the Doha Round to the General Council on 22 February 2010, said that “although some progress is taking place, gaps remain”. He suggested that the stocktaking at the end of March be undertaken by senior officials, adding that “the Geneva process remains ready to translate political movement into concrete and substantive progress”.

World Bank assisted projects in India to be reviewed on 24th & 25th February

New Delhi: World Bank assisted projects, both IBRD (International Bank for Reconstruction & Development) and IDA (International Development Association), will be reviewed at Bhubaneswar on 24th & 25th February, 2010. This is the first time that the World Bank assisted projects are being reviewed outside Delhi. The State Government of Orissa is offering necessary assistance for the review. Such residential review helps in getting focused attention, encourages cross learning and sharing of best practices.

New Delhi: Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a Scheme to provide sufficient back-haul capacity to integrate the voice and data traffic from the access network in the rural areas to their core network by strengthening the OFC network. This scheme considers OFC Network augmentation between the Blocks' HQ and Districts' HQ to begin with.
