The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed today the second and third reviews of Djibouti’s economic performance under the three-year Extended Credit Facility (ECF). The completion of the reviews enables the immediate disbursement of SDR 2.952 million (about US$4.52 million), bringing total disbursements under the program to SDR 8.292 million (US$12.70 million).

He was elected yesterday in the 72nd meeting of the General Assembly of SAFA held at Chennai.

A galaxy of Scientists attended the Science Congress - Professor Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, the Indian born American scientist and his co-winners of Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2009 Professor Thomas A. Steitz and Professor Ada E. Yonath and Professor Martin Chalfie, who won the 2008 Nobel Prize for Chemistry and Professor Tim Hunt, the recipient of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2001.

New Delhi: The 9th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas concluded here on Sunday with a happy note highlighting the several achievements of Overseas Indians and non-resident Indians (NRIs) across the globe. The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil conferred Pravasi Bharatiya Sanman Awards to as many as 14 Overseas Indians and one Qatar-based social organization for their outstanding contributions. Though the Overseas Indians continue to prosper and contribute to the economy of the country of their residence or domicile, the situation in Malaysia appears to be different. There may few exceptions like Tan Sri Dato Ajit Singh of Malaysia who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Sanman Award.
