DEEP FINANCIAL CRISIS IS BEHIND MALDIVES PRESIDENT MUIZZU’S SOFT TONE TO INDIA

NEW DELHI MUST MAKE ALL EFFORTS TO MAKE A SUCCESS OF MUIZZU’S COMING VISIT
Arun Kumar Shrivastav - 13-09-2024 11:39 GMT-0000
The recent resignation of two controversial ministers in Maldives, who had made derogatory remarks about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has cleared the path for Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu's visit to India. These ministers, known for their anti-India stance, were seen as a potential obstacle to the visit. With their removal from office, the way is now clear for the President to seek India's support and strengthen bilateral relations. The visit is particularly significant given Maldives' ongoing financial crisis and its need for international assistance.

PRIME MINISTER SHOULD HAVE AVOIDED GOING TO CJI’S PLACE FOR DOING PUJA

IT WAS DR. CHANDRACHUD’S PRIVATE AFFAIR AND PUBLICITY CAUSED THE DAMAGE
Sushil Kutty - 13-09-2024 11:34 GMT-0000
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud at the latter’s Delhi home and Prime Minister Modi performed aarti-puja on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. If Prime Minister Modi whispered something conspiratorial and compromising in CJI Chandrachud’s ear, nobody other than the CJI heard it. But the subsequent storm unleashed on the CJI was “unseemly.” The important question is, whose idea was the meeting?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a saying in Malayalam that death is a clown who lacks a sense of the stage. The adage has been proved yet again in the sad and untimely passing away of Communist Party of India(Marxist)(CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

Rabindra Nath Sinha - 13-09-2024 11:31 GMT-0000
KOLKATA: Khasi Students Union (KSU) president Lambokstar Marngar wants the Meghalaya government to ensure that migrant workers who come to the state for livelihood are all Indians. Asked whether he has doubts that at least some of them may not be Indians, Marngar told IPA that KSU has reasons to suspect that. Asked to identify states from which people migrate to Meghalaya, he mentioned Assam, Bihar. Knowledgeable quarters told IPA people from West Bengal too go to that north-eastern state for livelihood. They also cite the recent upheavals in Bangladesh and apprehend some influx to Meghalaya from Bangladesh.

OLD PEOPLE NEED COMPLETE HEALTH COVERAGE, GET ONLY HEALTH INSURANCE

NARENDRA MODI GOVERNMENT MUST ACCEPT RIGHT TO HEALTH AS FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 12-09-2024 11:57 GMT-0000
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has a penchant for launching exaggeratingly “exciting and impressive” schemes, but many of them only skin deep, ignoring the real issues facing the people of India. The latest cabinet decision on September 11, 2024 relating to health coverage of old people above 70 years of age is a glaring example. When the old people really needed “complete health coverage” the Centre approved only a “health insurance coverage” to all above 70 of only Rs5 lakh, merely a lollipot to sweeten the mouth for votes.

SO FAR HARRIS TRUMPS DONALD AND THAT IS NONE TOO GOOD FOR NARENDRA MODI

THE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE IS A STRONG DEFENDER OF HUMAN RIGHTS
Anjan Roy - 12-09-2024 11:43 GMT-0000
If debates between rival leaders decided outcomes, then Kamala Harris has won the US presidential race. The entire media, including the arch conservative ones, could not but admit that the debate on September 10 night could not have been better for Harris, and worst for Donald Trump.

RAHUL GANDHI SEEN WITH KNOWN ANTI-NATIONAL ELEMENTS ABROAD CREATES CONTROVERSY

MANY OF THEM ARE BASICALLY ANTI-INDIAN, NOT JUST OPPOSED TO NARENDRA MODI
Sushil Kutty - 12-09-2024 11:31 GMT-0000
Rahul Gandhi in the USA is proving to be a nightmare for the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government. Also to India that is Bharat. His statements made abroad do not make him a patriot. But patriotism is the last refuge for scoundrels. So, whoever is writing the script for Rahul Gandhi should be given a one-way ticket to the farthest town in the hemisphere.

A PRAGMATIC APPROACH TOWARDS CHINESE INVESTMENTS MUST FOR INDIA’S MANUFACTURING GOALS

FOREIGN MINISTER DR. S JAISHANKAR’S REMARK INDICATES A NUANCED STAND ON THE SENSITIVE ISSUE
K Raveendran - 11-09-2024 12:06 GMT-0000
India's economic aspirations have long been anchored in the expansion of its manufacturing sector, a goal that has become increasingly critical as the country seeks to position itself as a global economic powerhouse. It is widely believed that the realisation of this goal would be impossible without Chinese investments, which however, come with certain risks to national security. In fact, Chinese companies have played a key role in India’s emergence as the second largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world.
