Thiruvananthapuram: Nano technologists are coming forward to help the Indian textile industry to produce novel wears and create a niche market. The Delhi-based Indian Institute of Technology has launched a research group on nanotechnology for smart and innovative textile technology (SMITA).

New Delhi: Rice procurement by government agencies in the current marketing season has crossed 165 lakh (16.5 million) tonne mark. As on today, the paddy procurement in terms of rice stands at 165.14 lakh tonne, which is nearly the same as on 6th January, 2009.

BHOPAL: The stage is set for the election of 3.65 lakh Panchs in Madhya Pradesh. These include the members of 23 thousand village Panchayats, 313 Janpad Panchayats and 50 District Panchayats. Around 2.87 voters of the rural areas of the state will elect—besides Panchs of the village Panchayats—around 6800 members of Janpad Panchayats and 843 members of District Panchayats.

KOLKATA: The Centre and the Assam Government are working in tandem to arrive at a peace settlement with the leaders of the political wing of the ULFA, taking the leader of its armed wing, Mr Paresh Barua, on board if possible, and without him if necessary. Mr Barua, the “commander-in-chief” of the militant outfit, is still adamant on his demand for Assam's sovereignty and is believed to be hiding now somewhere in Myanmar, close to the Chinese border.
