Twenty-five years ago, as many Indians flew in a year as they do in a month now. That may sound like a measure of economic prosperity. Prakash Karat - 2023-05-11 13:22

The Reporters without Borders (RSF), which has prepared the World Press Freedom Index has placed India in the 161st rank out of 180 countries. The disturbing fact is, this is eleven ranks below India’s position of 150 in 2022. The index report notes that “The violence against journalists, the politically partisan media and the concentration of media ownership all demonstrate that press freedom is in crisis in ‘the world’s largest democracy’…”.

NO END IN SIGHT OF POLITICAL MESS IN MAHARASHTRA OVER SHIV SENA SPLIT

SHINDE IS SAFE AS CHIEF MINISTER BUT HIS PROBLEMS ARE MOUNTING DUE TO BJP
Sushil Kutty - 2023-05-11 13:19
The Supreme Court Thursday refused to rule Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde out of his job because it was snatched from Uddhav Thackeray who should have faced the floor test and not fled the scene. The top court’s refusal was disappointing because everything else the court said prior to expressing helplessness gave one the impression Shinde will find himself jobless, and good riddance!

SORDID KILLINGS IN MANIPUR UNMASK THE TRUE FACE OF BJP GOVT AND RSS

CENTRE HAS TO BE ALERT NOT TO ALLOW ANY DIVISIVE MOVES IN NORTH EAST REGION
Binoy Viswam - 2023-05-11 13:16
Manipur was like trump card for the BJP. Since their first ascendance to power in 2017, with the calculated plan of a conquest they treated Manipur as their spring board for North East. BJP's gaining of power in the state itself was through crooked ways. It had only 21 MLAs in the 60 member Assembly, where as the Congress had 28 members. Purchasing MLAs and manipulation of Governor's office helped BJP to manage their foot hold in Manipur. From there they extended the tentacles of hatred politics to nearby states one after another.
