BHOPAL: Bhartiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh is launching several schemes to win over voters in view of coming elections to the state Vidhan Sabha. In particular it is concentrating on two sections of voters. The two sections are women and adivasis. For women the BJP has launched a unique scheme. Announcing the scheme chief minister Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan said that women in the state will get Rs. One thousand every month. He launched the scheme in the presence of the gathering of one lakh women in Bhopal. Women were brought to Bhopal by various mans of transport.

This year the theme for the UN International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 is ‘DigitAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality’. This theme is aligned with the priority theme for the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67) Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. IWD 2023 will explore the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. IWD 2023, being celebrated on March 8 every year, has EmbraceEquity campaign theme and is a global day to mark the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call for accelerating women’s equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.

Ever since the Union Budget 2023-24 was tabled in the Parliament of India on February 1, 2023, MGNREGA workers across the country have stepped up their agitation to protect the employment guarantee given them under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) 2005. NREGA Sangharsh Morcha, that have fought for the workers right for years, has even launched its 100 days sit-in protest in Delhi on February 12. The agitation is gaining strength with support of the Central Trade Unions, social activists, and other associations of the working class.
