Sushil Kutty - 2022-10-14 11:08
The day after much of the dust settled on the Supreme Court’s split verdict on the hijab, things are falling into place for a better understanding of the verdict. One, it has become clear that after failing with the essential religious practice (erp) as the raison d’etre for the ‘hijab’ in classrooms demand, advocates for the hijab petitioners had picked on “hijab is a matter of choice” to deliver them the goods. And this has become the biggest defence of the hijab after the split verdict, something Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia highlighted in his divergent verdict which trashed and squashed the Karnataka high court verdict.

Dr. Nilanjan Banik - 2022-10-14 09:50

A quick search on items using the harmonized system (HS) at a 2-digit level reveals that there are 6 such items (among the top ten tradable items), which are of intra-industry types and contribute more than 70% of India’s trade deficit. Controlling CAD would call for understanding the nature of the deficit and policy response to counter this growing deficit.

FRACTURED VERDICT ON HIJAB FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN CREATING CONFUSION

CONTROVERSY WILL LINGER ON WASTING PRECIOUS EDUCATION OF A SECTION
Sushil Kutty - 2022-10-13 11:18
When two honourable Supreme Court justices are unable to arrive at a mutually acceptable decision on the hijab, then why do you think the Karnataka High Court ruled that a classroom is out of bounds for religious symbols? The top court’s fractured verdict will keep the Karnataka High Court’s no hijab in schools verdict in animation while the three high court judges who gave that verdict will remain in suspended animation till a larger Supreme Court bench surprises everyone all over again.
