Record breaking energy prices in Europe are threatening the global solar and battery industry, with manufacturing capacity facing a serious risk. The energy intensive nature of these manufacturing processes is leading some operators to temporarily close or abandon production facilities as the cost of doing business escalates. Unless prices turn around soon, Europe’s plans to cut dependence on imported fossil fuels by boosting installed renewable generation capacity and electric vehicle (EV) usage could be derailed.

The Election Commission of India wants political parties to provide detailed information about the financial implications of the promises made in their election manifestos as well as the effects of these promises on the fiscal sustainability of the state or central government’s finances. For this, the Election Commission proposes to amend the model code of conduct to include a two-part proforma to be filled up by political parties for disclosure of the promises made and the financial implications of these.

Some of us might not be alive to witness it but ever optimist Veteran banker K V Kamath, who is chairman of National Bank for Financing Infrastructure, said recently that he expects India to be a $25 trillion economy in 25 years. Presently India is around $3.7 trillion economy and recently overtook Britain, India’s colonial masters, to become a fifth largest economy in the World. But India is far behind topmost economic power United States, which is now a $26 trillion economy followed by China a $21 trillion economy.

National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), an initiative of Department of Justice in the Union Law Ministry with the approval of the Supreme Court of India, is a data base of orders, judgments and case details of 18,735 District and Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as online platforms under eCourts Project. Official sources reveal that a decision has been taken to include the Supreme Court of India (SCI) in the NJDG to complete the process. Process of completing the formalities by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is over, for launching on eCourts App.
