JHULAN GOSWAMI HAS RETIRED BUT SHE IS LEAVING BEHIND A GREAT LEGACY

YOUNGER WOMEN CRICKETERS HAVE MUCH TO LEARN FROM THIS LEGEND
Harihar Swarup - 2022-09-28 14:51
Jhulan Goswami is retiring. With that ends a spectacular career and a story worth countess retells. The mindboggling numbers—more than twenty years as top-flight fast bowler, over 350 wickets across formats, most balls bowled (9945 till Friday) in ODIs and also the youngest (23 years, 277 days) to take 100 wicket Test haul—alone led a sense of completeness to a career that has seen everything barring a World cup win. Pronged by a probing in swinger and stifling Yorker. Goswami was the reason India were not pigeonholed as a team of letters and all-rounder.

GOOD SECTION OF INDIAN MUSLIM MALES ARE NOT READY TO ACCEPT MODERNITY
Sushil Kutty - 2022-09-28 14:48
India and Iran have different political systems, but when it comes to the hijab the two aren’t different. This is seen in the context of certain laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sharia-based Constitution which appear to be knocking on the doors of the so-called secular Republic of India. Especially, those which govern how women should dress and behave under the male gaze, and when stepping outdoors in the full glare of the sun, and the neon.

RSS AND VHP HAVE GLOBALISED THE POLITICS OF HATE AND BIGOTRY

LATEST CLASHES IN BRITAIN SIGNALS A DANGEROUS TREND AMONG NRIs
Arun Srivastava - 2022-09-28 14:45
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Narendra Modi government have globalised the hate politics and divisiveness. The two evils which have been, after Narendra Modi becoming the prime minister, dictating the political discourse in India have made their way to the international arena. This is clearly manifest in the incidents that took place barely a fortnight back in Leicester (UK) and New Jersey (USA). These two places are quite apart, but the impact of the globalisation of vices has been akin. A look at the chemistry of the incidents underline that the cocktail of hate and bigotry is more lethal and dangerous than they have been in India.

Ashis Biswas - 2022-09-28 14:42
Ever since underground leader Jiban Singha of the banned Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) reiterated the call for a separate state, there have been signs of a resumption of activity on part of its activists in Assam and North Bengal.

TRINAMOOL CONGRESS MAY BE BACK TO OPPOSITION CAMP ALONG WITH CONGRESS

SHARAD PAWAR’S REMARK ABOUT THAW BETWEEN THE TWO HAS SOME BASIS
Tirthankar Mitra - 2022-09-28 14:39
A thaw in the relation between Congress and Trinamool Congress seems to be in the offing after it had hit a new low post 2021 state Assembly elections. Strangely enough, indications that the two outfits who had turned from political allies to bitter opponents are not averse to smoke the pipe of peace has come from afar.

CHINA’S SLOW ECONOMIC GROWTH HITTING THE TRADE FLOWS OF RCEP NATIONS

INDIA IS NOW ADVANTAGEOUSLY PLACED TO EXPAND THROUGH IPEF
Subrata Majumder - 2022-09-28 14:33
Business tycoon Gautam Adani jeered at China’s global powerhouse, lamenting China was increasingly isolated, owing to protectionism and shift in supply chain. Given these, RCEP (Regional Cooperation of Economic Partnership), which is driven by China, is in tailspin. Nearly one third of China’s global trade is shared by RCEP. RCEP is the world’s biggest trade block. Eventually, significance of RCEP is slipping into deceleration, with Chinese economic miracle fading.

MODI GOVERNMENT FREES ITSELF FROM CONSTITUTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY BY THREATENING AND LURING

M.Y. Siddiqui - 2022-09-28 05:34
In India’s system of democratic constitutional governance, all the three organs of the state, the executive (government), legislature and the judiciary are accountable and answerable to ”WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA”. To ensure accountability, the Constitution has envisaged checks. The executive is answerable to the legislature and legislature to the people. The higher judiciary, Supreme Court and High Courts, has been made accountable through impeachment under Article 124 (4) and lower judiciary through supervisory control of the High Courts under Article 235. These checks, however, have not been effective for quite some time now.
