THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Is Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ yatra losing focus during its Kerala leg? The answer to that question, unfortunately, has to be in the affirmative.

The next time you go out to have your favourite masala dosa in Bengaluru, check out with the local panchang whether the time is propitious for it. At least this is what Bengaluru South’s BJP MP Tejasvi Surya realised. Along with the youthful saffron MP, the masala dosa has been caught in a political storm, just as some cyclonic developments up north brought heavy rainfall that had parts of India’s famed Silicon Valley flooded without notice.

However, such an economic growth model is helping the rich grow and keeping the people down by denying even jobs resulting in rate of joblessness to climb to 8.3 per cent. Thus, India is actually heading towards earning the double distinction for the country by 2030 as the third biggest economy with the widest economic gap between the rich and the poor.

October 2017, the Wagon-R went missing from outside the secretariat and was found in a Ghaziabad side-street. Today, there is no trace of the Wagon-R’s whereabouts.

Image building is a politically important tool for present-day politicians worldwide, and India is no exception. They employ specialized image-building companies, who tell their clients what to wear, how to speak and what issues should be focused on at considerable costs to capture power.

Nothing has grown more steadily in democratic India than political corruption ever since its independence. Ironically, the news of political corruption consumed more media space than any other line of stories since 1948. Yet, such news had hardly much impact on political parties and their indulgence to corruption. Interestingly, political corruption cases mostly end up without conclusion either for want of proper evidence or due to the change of the government that initiated such investigations. High profile corruption cases often appear as big public entertainers like blockbuster film thrillers with little substance. They seem to disappear from public memory as soon as a new story props up. This is despite the fact political corruption has been systematically eating into the vitals of the country’s economy and social progress.

The accountant general detected alleged large-scale fraud in the midday meal and free-food scheme for children, including irregularities in the women and child development (WCD) department – headed by chief minister since the resignation of Scindia-loyal Imarthi Devi after her defeat in the 2020 by-polls.
