In a business-as-usual scenario, Green House Gas (GHG) emissions in India is set to increase by 40 per cent by 2030. Hence, achieving its targets, would need significant scaling up of its current policies, according to an IMF assessment.

The orgy of violence unleashed in Tripura after the assembly election results were announced on March 2 was an act foretold once the BJP got a majority, albeit a narrow one. As of March 6, around a thousand incidents of attacks and violence by the BJP gangs took place all over the state. These were in the form of physical attacks on CPI(M), Left Front and Congress workers and supporters, ransacking or burning of their houses and demolition of party offices. A particularly vicious form of attack is meant to destroy their means of livelihood like burning down rubber plantations, crops and damaging their e-rickshaws and vehicles to stop them plying.

BHOPAL: Bhartiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh is launching several schemes to win over voters in view of coming elections to the state Vidhan Sabha. In particular it is concentrating on two sections of voters. The two sections are women and adivasis. For women the BJP has launched a unique scheme. Announcing the scheme chief minister Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan said that women in the state will get Rs. One thousand every month. He launched the scheme in the presence of the gathering of one lakh women in Bhopal. Women were brought to Bhopal by various mans of transport.
