Bengaluru: Keeping her nerves at crucial moments, Seher Atwal fired a birdie on the 18th to win her first title of the season in the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour here Friday.

Com. PK Balakrishnan Nair, popularly known as Balan, the erudite librarian at Ajoy Bhavan, the CPI headquarters, passed away in New Delhi on July 20 at a local hospital after a period of illness. He was 82. He had a fall in his house recently and got multiple fractures on his left side, and was being treated in the hospital. He was brought back home but soon his health deteriorated and he died while being taken to the hospital.

In the 2021 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report, India ranks 101st out of the 116 countries. With a score of 27.5, India falls into the category of serious level of hunger. According to the GHI a rank of ≤ 9.9 is considered to be low, 10.0–19.9 moderate, 20.0–34.9 serious, 35.0–49.9 alarming, ≥ 50.0 extremely alarming. That we are at a serious level of hunger is a cause of concern for us. It requires pro active planning to ensure nutrition to all the citizens.

This has resulted in a relentless price rise of all essential commodities, particularly food items. Additionally, the people have been burdened with the ever-rising fuel prices, including the enormous rise in the price of cooking gas cylinders.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh ministers are finding it difficult to function due to powerful bureaucrats who are running the show independently. High profile Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak created storm in UP when he wrote letter to his departmental secretary for health Amit Mohan Prasad and questioned the large scale transfers of doctors in the state. Brijesh Pathak in his letter said that their shortcomings in the departmental transfer and rules of transfer policy were not followed.

Mediation is an alternate dispute resolution (ADR) system outside the traditional court system. In India, this service is presently provided by private ADR or mediation centres, and also through the court annexed mediation centres set up by courts and tribunals. Amritvarsh of India is characterised by unprecedented price hike on all the necessities of life. The people of India find it increasingly difficult to cope up with the shooting prices and their diminishing income. This Amritkaal is meant only for exploiters and looters. The dream of common people to have a decent life has turned into ashes. The wildfire of price rise has eaten away their hopes of life.
