Early this week, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) made headlines in international media for claiming that the next global financial crisis will come on the back of cryptocurrencies. He added that any attempts to regulate and help cryptocurrencies grow will end up destabilizing the global financial order. In the previous weeks, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also spoken on this subject. She said the RBI is of the view that cryptocurrencies should be banned but it can’t be of much use unless there is an international collaboration to stop the spread of cryptocurrencies.
