WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY OF INDIAN MEDIA, ESPECIALLY TV CHANNELS?

THE WAR INVOLVES THE LIVES OF MILLIONS, NOT A CRICKET MATCH OF IPL
Dr Pragya Sharma - 2025-05-14 11:43
After the most welcome ceasefire announcement, one question kept resonating in my mind. I was baffled to see the role of Indian mainstream media during this emergency like situation. Their primary purpose is to provide information and keep the masses aware, but they proved to be TRP hungry corporate houses who would do anything to sell. My head hangs in shame looking at the buffonery they created with special effects showing war missiles, an anchor sitting inside a fake helicopter and what not. Their only excuse can be that even Pakistani media was similarly making false claims but that country has a reputation of making a fool of itself on international platform, biggest example being their defence minister recently who claimed social media to be a source of information.

NARENDRA MODI MUST TELL TRUMP THAT KASHMIR IS A BILATERAL ISSUE NEEDING NO MEDIATOR

THE TRANSACTIONIST DEAL MAKER IS OUT TO MAKE GAINS FOR U.S. FROM INDIA-PAK CONFLICT
Sushil Kutty - 2025-05-13 11:38
The western Press is egging United States President Donald Trump to press India for third-party mediation in the Kashmir imbroglio roiling India-Pakistan relations, while at the same time asserting that Trump has put India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a "tight spot". Prime Minister Modi wasn't asked for his opinion and is Trump capable of putting India in a "tight spot", if at all!

The banning of the Awami League activities by the interim government of Bangladesh led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus last week has got wider implications for the pro-active political parties in the country in view of the coming national elections expected by early next year. Equally, the decision assumes significance for India which is now left with no friendly political party operating in its neighbouring country.

NARENDRA MODI IS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME IN DEALING WITH HIS GOOD FRIEND TRUMP

INDIA-US BILATERAL RELATIONS FACING A ROUGH WEATHER AFTER CEASEFIRE
Anjan Roy - 2025-05-13 11:32
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, demonstrates the predicament of a man fighting an unseen foe. Prime Minister’s address on Monday night was meant for the outside world, though it had its import on those inside the country. He was fighting what has been cast broad and wide without really being mentioned. It was the rumour mills in Washington and America that the sudden ceasefire was brokered by USA in the light of their intelligence inputs that Pakistan was planning a nuclear attack faced with the devastating fire powers of the Indians.

STATESMANSHIP - NOT RHETORIC IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR IN INDIA

PRIME MINISTER’S SPEECH MAINLY DIRECTED TOWARDS HIS ELECTORAL BASE
Dr Arun Mitra - 2025-05-13 11:30
War brings misery and deaths. ‘War is neither romantic nor a Bollywood film’ said former Army Chief Manoj Narvane while addressing at an event organised by the Cost Accountants of India at Pune. Diplomacy would be his first choice he added, ‘there is trauma among people living in the border areas, including children, who have seen shelling and have to run to shelters at night. For those who have lost their loved ones, that trauma will be carried through generations’ he said. The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among the people who have seen gruesome scenes wakeup sweating after 20 years and need psychiatric care he further added. War should be the last option, diplomacy should take the lead.

Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2025-05-13 10:58
Though the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (PS&W) Sarbananda Sonowal has boasted about the achievements of India’s Major Ports in FY 2024-25, the ministry under him performed very badly, reveals the Annual Report. Actual Expenditure of the Ministry was totally unsatisfactory being it is much below the level of Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) and Internal and Extra Budgetary Resources (IEBR) outlays, both in the Budget Estimate and the Revised Estimate level.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been quite careful in expressing its support and appreciation for Operation Sindoor as it has enhanced nation’s self respect and morale. Four days back before announcement of ceasefire ,the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had condemned “the attacks being carried out by the Pakistani army on religious places and civilian settlement areas on the border of Bharat” he had lauded Operation Sindoor and said the attacks inside Pakistan were inevitable for India’s security.

Shiran Illanperuma - 2025-05-13 10:48
NEW YORK: In 1964, during the second summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Cairo, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) Sirimavo Bandaranaike proposed that the Indian Ocean be turned into a “zone of peace” that was free of military bases and nuclear weapons. In the context of heightened militarization during the Cold War, this proposal was supported by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
