INDIA SHOULD BE MORE ACTIVE IN BRINGING ABOUT A SOLUTION TO UKRAINE CRISIS

PROXIMITY TO BOTH RUSSIA AND UNITED STATES CAN BE USED BY DELHI TO END HOSTILITIES
K R Sudhaman - 2022-03-01 12:16
Maverick politician Subramanian Swamy of BJP is right when he likened to that of a circus lion India’s stand to abstain from voting on UN resolution against Russia for its aggressive war against Ukraine. Swamy in an interview said India is like a circus lion, which does not know its power. Despite having such a huge strength it will obey to orders from its master, a puny man with a stick. India’s stand is similar as it does know its diplomatic strength in the comity of nations. He also drew an analogy from the Hindu mythology saying India is like Bishmapitamaha, who was silent when Draupati was being unrobed by Guaravas in Mahabharata, knowing fully what was happening was wrong. He meant Ukraine’s case is like that of Draupadi.

Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2022-02-28 11:24
The outcome of the Global Forum for Human-centred Recovery must be taken seriously by the Modi government which is preparing to roll out the profit oriented labour reforms in 2022, in the form of four labour codes, at a time when India urgently needs to address the dangerous level of inequalities in the country exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent distortion in the labour market.

WHEN DIPLOMATIC ALLIES FIGHT, IT IS UNWISE TO PICK SIDES

INDIA’S TIGHTROPE WALK ON UKRAINE ISSUE IS DESIRABLE
Nantoo Banerjee - 2022-02-28 11:12
Indian diplomacy has shown a great character and maturity by not taking sides in the Ukraine crisis in the face of a warlike situation there involving the US-led NATO and Russia. All the key actors engaged in building a highly belligerent situation over Ukraine are some of India’s best friends. They include Russia, the US, NATO members and, of course, Ukraine. India is trying its best to get the tension defused diplomatically. Prime Minister Narendra Modi already spoke with President Vladimir Putin. The high tension between Russia and Ukraine needs to be defused fast through diplomacy and discussion. Both sides must give up fire power and go for a lusting truce.

ODISHA RURAL POLLS VERDICT CONFIRMS TRENDS OF REGIONAL GRASSROOTS

NATIONAL PARTIES HAVE TO ADJUST TO THE NEW POLITICAL GROUND REALITY
Sushil Kutty - 2022-02-28 10:35
Rural Odisha isn’t wasting time on Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Instead, the grassroots voted for the Biju Janata Dal, the Odisha political party with a dead man’s name for mascot. Biju Patnaik was Chief Minister and incumbent Chief Minister Navin Patnaik’s father. But while Narendra Modi goes hammer and tong against dynasties everywhere, he baulks at mentioning Odisha’s reigning pater-familias.

TWO NATIONAL PARTIES BJP AND CONGRESS ARE MARGINAL POWERS IN TAMIL NADU

LOCAL BODY POLLS SHOW TWO REGIONAL PARTIES ONLY MATTER IN THIS SOUTHERN STATE
K R Sudhaman - 2022-02-28 10:30
It is really amusing that there is a raging tug-of-war between two national parties, Congress and BJP over who finished poor 3rd or 4th in the recently held Tamil Nadu urban local body elections where none of the party made it to single corporation even though they managed to get a few seats. In fact these two parties have relegated as marginal players in the state elections, be it local body, assembly or Lok Sabha elections.
