EAC-PM STUDY SHOWS MAJORITY OF PEOPLE UNDER THE YOKE OF SEVERE INEQUALITY

People in 14 states and Union Territories of India were earning below the national average in 2023-24. Out of these 9 are larger states and UTs –Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, while 5 are smaller – Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Jammu & Kashmir. It means majority of the Indians are under the yoke of severe inequality, which should be a matter for serious concern.
