BUDGET MUST FOCUS ON CAPACITY BUILDING FOR HEALTH

STRONGER HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS THE ONLY OPTION LEFT
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2021-12-11 11:09
The last two years – 2020 and 2021 – have driven us to a crossroads where we need to decide whither to go. Everybody by now might have witnessed how the heath and economic development are in cyclic order and closely interlinked. Our government at the centre led by the PM Narendra Modi, might have understood by now that their drumming up for health insurance has no meaning if we don’t have access to the healthcare system well equipped with infrastructure, technology, and manpower. The COVID-19 pandemic should be an eye opener, and therefore the Union Budget 2022-23 must focus on capacity building for health to make stronger healthcare system the only way left to us.

Sushil Kutty - 2021-12-11 10:32
“Farming is a profession of hope,” said someone and passed on, never to take up ‘hope’, and because of that he lived a long life and didn’t have to escape debt by hanging himself from the tree next to the tube-well. The farmers are leaving Delhi’s borders and many have already left, after 15 months of squatting on the highways that plough through into Delhi where sits the disruptor-in-chief and his army of ‘yes men’.

NARENDRA MODI SWEARS BY ’CONSTITUTIONAL VALUES’ AT DEMOCRACY SUMMIT

INDIAN PRIME MINISTER IS IN THE COMPANY OF SOME BIG AUTHORITARIAN HEADS
Sushil Kutty - 2021-12-10 09:55
President Joe Biden is a cognitive disaster, say some of his meanest detractors. Two recent polls—one by the Wall Street Journal and the other by Monmouth University—have given Biden no more chance to retain control of the House and Senate in 2022 than Prime Minister Narendra Modi had of winning West Bengal in mid-2021. And American media now say that Covid-19 transformed America into a ‘gig economy’, which is not too far from the glaring truth of India, where Narendra Modi’s ‘pakoranomics’ reduced India to an economy where people can only “pay bills.”

INDIA’S POST-PANDEMIC ECONOMIC RECOVERY IS NOT SUSTAINABLE

ONLY A VIGOROUS PUSH TO PUBLIC CONSUMPTION CAN HELP AT THIS STAGE
Prabhat Patnaik - 2021-12-10 09:51
The pandemic alas is not yet over, but there are no economic disruptions in the current fiscal year in the form of lockdowns or workers’ absence. The economy’s performance therefore can no longer be attributed to the prevalence of the pandemic; whatever it is, it is caused by economic factors.
