INDIA’S GLOBAL PRESTIGE FALLING UNDER MODI RULE

EVEN THE RANK OF INDIAN PASSPORT FELL FROM 74 TO 90
Gyan Pathak - 2021-10-07 11:21
Contrary to the claim of Modi fan club, India’s global prestige has been falling sharply. Even the rank of Indian Passport fell from 74 in 2013 to 90 in 2021 out of 199 countries, according to Henley Passport Index. The slippage of its rank was 16 places during Modi’s regime. It clearly contradicts the claim of the members of Modi fan club, and belief of supporters that after Modi became prime minister of India, India’s prestige has tremendously increased, since he has made the country a ‘global player now’.

FACEBOOK PERILOUSLY CLOSE TO FOUNDER’S ORIGINAL SIN OF ‘NAME AND SHAME’

OUTAGE DURING WHISTLE-BLOWER’S HEARING HAS OMINOUS PORTENDS
K Raveendran - 2021-10-06 11:21
It is quite ominous that the Facebook outage, which denied over a billion users of their favourite social media platform, coincided with a hearing attended by insider whistle blower Frances Haugen before the US Senate Commerce, Science and Transport Subcommittee. What transpired at the hearing remains largely unreported. That Frances was armed with thousands of secret internal documents, which she has apparently shared with US Securities and Exchange Commission, members of the Congress and some newspapers, is highly disconcerting to founder Zuckerberg, who saw his fortunes shaved by not less than $6 billion as the company share price dropped nearly five percent in the space of a few hours that had seen the platform go down. This was in addition to tens of millions of dollars in advertisement revenue that the platform lost during the outage.

EDUCATION FOR MOST MARGINALIZED AND VULNERABLES COMPROMISED

UNESCO REPORT IS A WAKEUP CALL FOR NARENDRA MODI GOVERNMENT
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2021-10-06 11:03
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of India states that ‘Teachers truly shape the future of our children – and therefore, the future of our nation’. However, the future of our children and the nation is endangered. We lack teachers in large number, many are underqualified or not qualified, their service conditions are bad, and the quality of education is very low. The learning experience, particularly, that of the most marginalized and vulnerable students, has been compromised. COVID-19 has further worsened the condition. Though education is a concurrent subject, the Centre is chiefly responsible for it since it has a role in shaping it through several missions, schemes and regulatory norms enabled by the Right to Education Act 2009.
