THE UNITED STATES HAS SPENT $21 TRILLION ON MILITARIZATION SINCE 9/11

ITS IMPACT ON US AND OTHER CONCERNED COUNTRIES IS HORRENDOUS
Luke Savage - 2021-09-04 11:43
Earlier this week, at a press conference marking the end of the war in Afghanistan, Joe Biden delivered what is arguably the most encouraging remark of his presidency to date: “This decision about Afghanistan,” said Biden, “is not just about Afghanistan. It’s about ending an era of major military operations to remake other countries.” Given Biden’s own history, of course, there are good reasons to be skeptical about the sincerity of these words — and, fittingly enough, plenty of the standard imperial liturgy could be found amid his defense of the withdrawal.

SIMULTANEOUS JOB LOSS AND RISING LABOUR PARTICIPATION IS MYSTERIOUS

GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO KEEP CLOSER LOOK ON ITS OWN DATA
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2021-09-04 11:40
The labour market situation in India is going beyond comprehension of the common people. Everybody was hoping for good days amidst the revival of economic activities after the lockdowns and containments measures were eased up further in August 2021, but about 15 lakh workers lost their jobs, though the labour participation witnessed a marginal increase. How and why these are happening simultaneously, and how we are to interpret it correctly for better policy decisions so that the labour force should not suffer in the midst of economic revival for with we have been awaiting for a long time?

SANGH PARIVAR IS DESPERATE TO COMMUNALISE INDIAN HISTORY
D Raja - 2021-09-04 11:37
Misrepresentation of facts, distortion of history, appropriation of some historical figures and events while negating or falsifying others are standard techniques in the ‘toolkit’ of the Sangh Parivar. This urge to rewrite the history of the Indian nation and the Republic stems from a deep seated inferiority. When the Indian masses were coming together to throw away the imperial yoke, the RSS and other fundamentalist forces were extending their cooperation to the British being totally compliant and subservient.

If there is shame, the Delhi Police is shameless. And courts shame the Delhi Police most every other week – “a Delhi court” one day, the Delhi High Court the next day. A couple of days ago, a Delhi court roundly castigated the Delhi Police for failing to properly investigate the 2020 northeast Delhi riots even as three men arraigned by the Delhi Police on charges of rioting, arson and other related offences were set free.

K Raveendran - 2021-09-04 11:30
It is high time an economic component is added to the Constitution to prevent incumbent governments from arbitrarily introducing economic policy changes that have serious implications beyond its tenure and can endanger the future of the nation and the generations to come. It will help introduce safeguards against situations like the present, when the Modi government has taken several decisions that can alter the basic concepts of development, envisaged by the nation’s founding fathers.

Plotters in Florida employing Colombian mercenary soldiers arranged to kill Haitian President Jovenel Moïse on July 7; rivalry among Haitian oligarchs may have played a role. A deadly earthquake followed and then flooding from a tropical storm. Amid the chaos, relief services are lacking in rural areas. U.S. Marines intruded, as the U.S. military had likewise done after the 2010 earthquake that killed some 230,000 people. Adverse effects of all these linger.
