PANICKY IMRAN KHAN BRACING HIMSELF FOR POSSIBLE SHOCK IN NO-TRUST VOTE

OPPOSITION UPBEAT AS MORE PTI ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ARE IN DISSENTING MOOD
Sankar Ray - 2022-03-21 12:04
The more the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan Niazi zooms in on 25 March (if not earlier),the fateful voting for no-confidence motion at the National Assembly, the more rattled is the hierarchical order of the main ruling party, Pakistan Tehreek-i- Insaf, headed by the PM. As if sensing that his prime ministerial existence is threatened, Imran Khan seems to have forgotten that once he was committed to play with a straight bat when he led the Pakistan Test cricket team and now swinging with a cross bat to stay on.

SURGING INFLATION CAN UPSET INDIA’S ECONOMY

MEGA PROJECTS, JOB PROSPECTS MAY BE HIT
Nantoo Banerjee - 2022-03-21 11:25
There were writings on the wall. Only India’s official economists seemed to have failed to read and report to the government. Oil rally was expected to continue through 2022 as demand outstripped supply. By January 29, this year, oil posted its sixth straight weekly gain as a growing global chorus predicted the price would surpass $100 a barrel. That was well before Russia attacked Ukraine. Speculation was rife about Russia’s attack on Ukraine as early as in November, 2021 and possible punitive US financial and commodity sanctions on Russia.

DISCONNECT BETWEEN POTENTIAL AND PERFORMANCE IN INDIAN AGRICULTURE IS STARK

CONTINUING RENOVATION AND NEW IDEAS CAN ONLY GIVE THIS SECTOR A BIG PUSH
Arun Kumar Shrivastav - 2022-03-21 10:56
These days Kashmiri farmers are battling a new type of terrorists who destroy their apple and almond trees in the orchards. These terrorists are porcupines, a variety of rodents with long and prolific thorny shoots. Porcupine invasions in Shopian, Pulwama, and Budgam districts have destroyed thousands of fruit-bearing trees. These rodents come out of their habitats in large numbers during the winter and make a feast on vegetables and tree-barks. Since apple and almond trees take 10-14 years to mature and bear fruits, the loss of trees due to porcupines is leaving the farmers exasperated.

TENUOUS LEGALITY OF EXTRANEOUS, IRRELEVANT BAIL CONDITIONS

RIGHT TO LIFE AND LIBERTY UNDER ARTICLE 21 OFTEN NEGLECTED
Paras Ahuja - 2022-03-21 10:51
The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 broadly classifies offences into two types: ‘bailable’ and ‘non-bailable’, under Section 2(a) read with Schedule 1. It is pertinent to note that while the grant of bail is a matter of right in case of bailable offences, as provided under Section 436 of the Code; bail in case of non-bailable offences is a matter of discretionary power of the court and the police officer in-charge of the police station. In case of bailable offences, the right to be granted bail cannot be subjected to any conditions, but, in case of non-bailable offences, the same can be subjected to “certain specific conditions”, as provided under Section 437(3) and Section 439(1).

Three scantily dressed samba dancers wearing traditional feather headdresses laid bare the limits of social liberalisation in Saud Arabia when they earlier this year danced on the streets of Jizan, a historically conservative city on the border with Yemen.

Dr Arun Mitra - 2022-03-21 10:41

This will be replaced by the Charak oath. Charak is a legendary figure in the history of medicine of our country. There are two names which are taken with reverence while remembering the history of medicine of ancient India. Charka was a physician in 300 BC and Sushruta, a surgeon in AD 600.

NARENDRA MODI, THE SUPERHUMAN WHO ONLY WORKS AND RARELY SLEEPS

INDIAN PRIME MINISTER’S LIFE TILL NOW CAN BE A SUBJECT OF NYT BESTSELLER
Sushil Kutty - 2022-03-21 10:34
We’ve heard of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 56” chest, and we’ve heard of how Modi can stand on one leg and give Baba Ramdev a run for his Yoga. Modi’s superhuman exploits would fill a tome the size of a NYT bestseller, and if people never tire of ‘Modi hai toh mumkin hai’, it’s because it’s been spoken and heard ad nauseam.

EPFO PAYROLL DATA REVEALS A SLOW PACE OF FORMALISATION OF LABOUR

SOCIAL SAFETY NET TO REMAIN A DREAM FOR MILLIONS FOR YEARS TO COME
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2022-03-21 10:30
The pace at which India is moving forward in providing social safety net for workforce is too slow to cover entire workforce in years to come. The monthly provisional data just released by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) reveals that the situation is still volatile since exit and entry from and into the scheme remains frequent and progress of formalization of the workforce is too slow to cover the entire workforce in foreseeable future under this social security provision meant for providing retirement benefit and pension in old age.
