RUSSIA’S MOVE AGAINST UKRAINE DIVIDES COMMON INDIANS ON GENERATIONAL LINES

DELHI-MOSCOW FRIENDSHIP IS TOO STRONG TO BE IGNORED FOR ONE WRONG ACTION
Sushil Kutty - 2022-03-01 12:23
Are we Indians in the majority confused? Who do we support, Russia or Ukraine? Sitting here in India, the question bounces off umpteen talking heads. Russia is an old friend, Russia stood with India through thick and thin—War & Peace. But have we forgotten Russia when confronted by the upstart Ukraine? Like one Indian media says, “The Indian public opinion is split with the old-timers supporting Moscow and the younger lot in favor of Ukraine.” Of course, it adds the caveat that things would change if even one Indian student is caught in the crossfire.

SAVING PEOPLE FROM CLIMATE RISKS NEEDS CONCRETE ACTIONS NOW

INDIA MUST PAY HEED TO STERN WARNING GIVEN BY UNITED NATIONS
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2022-03-01 12:19
The stark warning that the UN scientists have served to the world through their report titled “Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” has also a grave warning for India that Modi government must heed to save its people in near future, since India is running a risk of becoming uninhabitable if emissions are not cut by more than what has been promised by the largest emitter countries.

INDIA SHOULD BE MORE ACTIVE IN BRINGING ABOUT A SOLUTION TO UKRAINE CRISIS

PROXIMITY TO BOTH RUSSIA AND UNITED STATES CAN BE USED BY DELHI TO END HOSTILITIES
K R Sudhaman - 2022-03-01 12:16
Maverick politician Subramanian Swamy of BJP is right when he likened to that of a circus lion India’s stand to abstain from voting on UN resolution against Russia for its aggressive war against Ukraine. Swamy in an interview said India is like a circus lion, which does not know its power. Despite having such a huge strength it will obey to orders from its master, a puny man with a stick. India’s stand is similar as it does know its diplomatic strength in the comity of nations. He also drew an analogy from the Hindu mythology saying India is like Bishmapitamaha, who was silent when Draupati was being unrobed by Guaravas in Mahabharata, knowing fully what was happening was wrong. He meant Ukraine’s case is like that of Draupadi.

INTERNATIONAL LAW HAS BEEN VIOLATED BY RUSSIA BY ATTACKING UKRAINE

BIG POWERS IN GENERAL CARE LITTLE FOR ACCEPTED NORMS AND CONVENTIONS
Atul Alexander - 2022-03-01 12:09
The ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine has captured the spotlight in the past weeks, with condemnation pouring from all corners. However, Russia seems unfettered and is going on a rampage, capturing the major cities of Ukraine. International organisations and States have registered their outcry. For instance, the United Nations Secretary-General’s (UNSG) statement reflected the gravity of the crisis: the UNSG termed the whole crisis as a ‘…moment of peril’.

IMRAN KHAN’S TWO DAY MOSCOW VISIT DURING WAR ENDS IN NEAR DISASTER

PRESIDENT PUTIN REJECTS PAK PM’S STRONG PLEA FOR LOANS FOR GAS PIPELINE
Sankar Ray - 2022-03-01 12:01
The Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi’s visit to the Russian Federation has resulted in a damp squib, if not a ‘diplomatic disaster’. To call it just ill-timed because of Russian invasion of Ukraine is to hide the frustration beneath. True, President Vladimir Putin had little time when Russia’s hell-bent desire to punish Ukraine was the prime priority even to offer diplomatic etiquette in dialogue with him - the entire government at Kremlin having been on pins and needles. The pessimism is over the Pakistani premier’s request for a $1 billion credit advance to Pakistan for the proposed Gas Pipeline project. It has been politely rejected by Putin at the meeting between the two leaders, according to reports.
