FARMERS’ RESENTMENT HAS PUT NITISH KUMAR IN TIGHT SPOT

NEED TO SET UP A MARKET REGULATOR FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF MSP
Ashok B Sharma - 2020-11-07 09:40
Farmers’ issue has come to the fore in recent Bihar assembly election. The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had repealed the State Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act way back in 2006. The farmers in the state are not benefitted by this move, rather they are in a helpless state and are unable to sell their produce at minimum support prices (MSPs) announced by the government. Nitish, while repealing the APMC Act, should have planned the strategy by which the farmers can sell their produces not the below the benchmark prices which in this case are the MSPs. Some states have delisted fruits and vegetables from the purview of their APMC Acts without making adequate provisions in their law whereby farmers can get adequate returns on sale.

THE “LIBERAL” US MEDIA GOT IT WRONG AGAIN IN 2020 ELECTIONS

STRENGTH OF CONSERVATIVE AMERICA WAS NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT
Sagarneel Sinha - 2020-11-07 09:38
It is not yet clear when the United States of America would officially declare the presidential election results. Although it appears, almost certainly, that Joe Biden of the Democratic Party would be the next man in the White House ousting the incumbent Republican president Donald Trump — who is still refusing to accept the results and is readying for a legal fight.

TEJASHWI HAS TRANSFORMED POLITICAL AGENDA IN BIHAR ASSEMBLY POLL

VOTERS ARE TOLD BY RJD THAT THERE ARE MORE PRESSING ISSUES THAN CASTE
Harihar Swarup - 2020-11-07 09:31
It’s an election like no other in Bihar. No street side addas, clamorous band bajaa or flag-waving processions. In a pandemic, rallies are still jam-packed, yet voters stand within chalk circles at polling booths. A lead actor for the last three tumultuous decades is missing from the poll scene. Lalu Prasad is in jail but his son Tejashwi has stepped up. They share the same blood, but their political blood group seems different. The father bellowed out a war cry against upper castes, the son speaks in lilting tones on jobs for Bihar’s youth. Lalu banked on MY (Muslim-Yadav) support, Tejashwi is hoping for an MYY (Muslim, Yadav and cross caste Youth) constituency.

TRADE UNIONS AND MASS ORGANISATIONS HAVE TO BE PRO-ACTIVE
Joe Sims - 2020-11-06 16:18
It is generally said that an assessment of a politician’s stance on this or that issue shouldn’t rest on positions they took a decade or two ago. According to this view, the past is not a prelude to the present or predictive of a possible future. This argument was made about Hillary Clinton during the previous election cycle, and it’s been repeated regarding the Democratic nominees this time around.
