After dumping Samajwadi Party, BSP national President Mayawati conducted review meetings in Delhi and Lucknow and blaimed Samajwadi Party for its failure to transfer Yadav votes to BSP candidates. This claim is not true. As per the data available Yadavs voted for BSP candidates but on the contrary Mayawati failed to transfer her votes to Samajwadi Party candidates. It is a known fact that BSP never got Muslims votes in the past as she was not considered to be dependable for minorities.
Muslims avoided voting for BSP as Mayawati became CM thrice with the support of BJP. More so she had campaigned for BJP in Gujarat and shared dais with Mr Modi. During 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BSP succeeded in getting Muslim votes only because of being part of gathbandhan. Now out of gathbandhan BSP will face tough time in getting Muslim votes during the by-polls.
BSP will also face charge of promoting the family interests as she made her younger brother Anand as national vice-president and his son Akash as national coordinator. There has been lot of criticism from dalits experts that Mayawati has deviated from the ideology of founder Kansiram and is busy promoting the family.
During review meetings with office-bearers, Mayawati explained the reasons for coming out of gathbandhan and she asked them to work hard and reach out to public and spread the message of good works of previous BSP governments.
Significantly enough, Samajwadi Party national President Akhilesh Yadav has not reacted to charges made public by Mayawati. There is no doubt that with BJP leadership in upbeat mood and split in opposition votes, it would be difficult for BSP SP and Congress to face the elections. But all the parties are watching the prospects of BSP in forthcoming by-polls for assembly seats. (IPA Service)

LUCKNOW: Only the results of by-elections for 12 assembly seats will tell whether unilateral decision of BSP national President Mayawati to end gathbandhan with Samajwadi Party was right or not. By-polls are taking place as MLAs from different political parties made it to Lok Sabha. For the first time BSP is contesting by-polls and will have to perform better to impress the voters for assembly elections scheduled in 2022.
