Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Choudhry who accompanied Akhilesh in Rath Yatra was so enthused by the road-side reception that he said that people had made it clear that there was no stopping for Samajwadi Party from coming to power in 2012 assembly polls.
There was overwhelming response in Kanpur which was evident from huge turn out at Phoolbagh public meeting from where Samajwadi Party launched election campaign.
Addressing the public meeting at Phoolbagh, Samajwadi Party state president Akhilesh Yadav got the very good response when he made appeal to dislodge Mayawati government.
People present in Phoolbagh appreciated when Akhilesh launched attack on chief minister Mayawati and listed charges of corruption against her government.
Earlier in Unnao district, Akhilesh Yadav led an impressive cycle yatra when thousands of workers joined him to spread the message to dislodge Mayawati government.
After having completed first phase yatra on September 14, Samajwadi Kranti Rath will go to Bundelkhand in second phase.
Much significance is being attached to Bundelkhand Yatra because of the report of large scale of farmers committing suicide and very little development in past several years and allegations of misuse of funds sent by UPA government.
According to SP sources, Samajwadi Kranti Rath Yatra will cover all the seven districts of Bundelkhand for the period of one week.
According to party spokesman Rajendra Choudhry, Samajwadi Kranti Rath Yatra will cover Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jaluan, Jhansi and Lalitpur.
Significantly enough, the Rath Yatra will also pass through VIP areas like Rae Bareili and Fatehpur while going to Bundelkhand.
Since Samajwadi Party had got only four out of 23 seats in 2007 assembly polls, Mulayam and his son Akhilesh want to mobilise more support to increase the tally from this region where BSP did well in last assembly polls.
Samajwadi Party is aware of the fact that AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi had also extensively visited the region and sent central package to improve the performance of party which had got only two seats.
Political observers believe that Akhilesh Yadav will have to sharpen his attack on Mayawati government in Bundelkhand region where the BSP did extremely well in the last assembly elections. (IPA Service)
