Adirondack Park

Adirondack Park is the largest park and the largest state-level protected area in the contiguous United States. This state preserve is located in north central New York and covers some 6.1 million acres of which 60% is privately owned. It was created in 1892 in order to protect vital natural resources, most notably freshwater and timber.
