Aesculapian snake

Aesculapian snake is a snake believed to have a mythical link with Aesculapius , the Roman god of healing, and from whom it derives its name. That is why, in ancient times, this snake was protected in Europe, especially in Rome.

It is a long and slender snake having a range of colour from olive-brown to grayish. It is native to Europe and southwest Asia. It belongs to Colubridae family.
